Artist's Description
A black and white rendition of the aftereffects of a forest fire with smoke-laden clouds near Chiricahua National Monument, Willcox, Arizona, USA. Cause unknown. Photo taken in 2006. Also serves as a reminder of what the wilderness would be like if we don't take care of it.
About Tim Richards
I have no formal training in art. I have worked primarily in the educational field. I began to create art after traveling around the world. This opened my eyes to a greater aesthetic perception. Artists who only have lived in the USA are limiting themselves to possibilities of objective content. Although most art posted by artists in FAA could be described as the 2D rendering of the aesthetic perception of the surface appearance of objects and scenes, I strive to create art that imparts some meaning beyond the depiction or subjective interpretation of externality. The human being feels safe with the known. As all humans start life with the familiar, so must an artist. Whether we know it or not, we are documentarians and...

Tim, this is almost too hard to look at, when you think of the death and destruction caused by a forest fire...The desolation of the landscape combined with the charred trees make for a sobering image. I always said a photo sends a powerful message, if we want it to.Not every photo has a 'happy' message to it but some of them have messages that need to be heard. This is certainly one.I will add this one to my favorites.
Tim Richards replied:
Thanks, Karen. Healthy forests cannot survive without a periodic cleansing fire, making way for new life.
